CMS Expands Survey Triggers

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services issued additional guidance on what will prompt a COVID-19 related survey. Previously, states would survey a facility with multiple new COVID-19 cases and consistently low staffing. The new CMS guidance adds five survey triggers, including Special Focus Facility designated providers, and surveys in response to Immediate Jeopardy allegations or complaints.
