Newly Appointed California AG Becerra Shows Increased Scrutiny of SNFs & 5-Star Ratings System, Files Suit Alleging Reporting Violations

A coalition of California district and city attorneys have sued Brookdale Senior Living over allegedly false nursing home staffing data and purportedly mishandled resident discharges. California attorney general Xavier Becerra highlighted the importance of accurate reporting and transparency, and the desire to protect patients and their family. Brookdale has denied the allegations, and pointed to their commitments in the 2020 annual report toward optimizing their remaining facilities.
